Grant Supports Early Literacy Efforts for Children Across Fayette County

The Fayette Electric Cooperative Charitable Donor-Advised Fund is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous grant from Second Chance Emporium in La Grange. The funds will be used to support children in Fayette County through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Through the program, children from birth to age five receive a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book delivered directly to their homes each month at no cost to their families. Fayette Electric Cooperative’s local program currently provides monthly books to 419 children in Fayette County, helping promote early literacy, encourage families to read together, and support kindergarten readiness.

“We are grateful to Second Chance Emporium for its continued investment in the children of Fayette County,” said Tracy Denton, director of marketing, communications and training at Fayette Electric Cooperative. “This generous support will help us provide books directly to local children’s homes and continue building a strong foundation for literacy and lifelong learning.”

The Fayette Electric Cooperative Charitable Donor-Advised Fund serves as a local program partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Through this partnership, enrolled children receive one free book each month from birth to age five.

The grant reflects a shared commitment by Second Chance Emporium and Fayette Electric Cooperative to strengthen local communities by expanding access to books and early literacy opportunities. Funding will be used to purchase and distribute books for children enrolled in the program within Fayette County, helping ensure continued access to reading materials during their critical early-learning years.
