The Community Reinvestment Grant is funded through unclaimed capital credits and reflects Fayette Electric Cooperative’s commitment to reinvesting locally and supporting the long‑term vitality of the communities we serve. These funds are used in accordance with Texas law and cooperative principles to support projects that provide a clear public benefit within FEC’s service territory.
Grant funding does not come from electric rates and does not impact the cooperative’s financial health. Instead, it allows unclaimed capital credits to stay local—right where they belong.
Eligible applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Public entities, including:
Public school districts
Colleges or technical schools
Cities, counties, or local government departments
Public libraries or other governmental agencies
Eligible Geographic Area
Projects must directly benefit communities within Fayette Electric Cooperative’s service area. Priority will be given to programs that serve FEC members and demonstrate a clear, measurable local impact.
Educational & Workforce Development
Including, but not limited to:
Scholarships
Workforce or skilled‑trade training programs
Youth education, leadership, and safety programs
Economic Development
Including:
Local business development initiatives
Job creation or retention projects
Infrastructure or site-readiness projects that support long-term economic growth
Energy Efficiency & Conservation
Including:
Energy efficiency education or assistance programs
Conservation initiatives benefiting cooperative members
Community Development
Including:
Projects that improve community facilities or services
Programs that align with cooperative values and demonstrate a public benefit
Grant funds may not be used for:
General operating expenses
Rate reductions or bill credits
Political activity, campaigns, or lobbying
Executive compensation or benefits
Capital construction not directly related to an eligible project
Projects that discriminate based on protected classes
Activities inconsistent with cooperative principles or public benefit goals
Grant amounts may vary based on:
Available Community Reinvestment funds
Project scope and impact
Alignment with program priorities
Award amounts are determined at the sole discretion of Fayette Electric Cooperative. The maximum amount awarded will be $10,000 per project.
Applications are reviewed by Fayette Electric Cooperative staff for eligibility and completeness.
Recommendations may be presented to the Board of Directors for review and approval.
Final funding decisions rest with the FEC Board, consistent with Policy 104 and applicable law.
Applicants will be notified in writing of the funding decision.
Grant recipients may be required to:
Acknowledge Fayette Electric Cooperative’s support
Provide a brief written report describing fund usage and community impact
Supply photos or impact metrics for cooperative communications, when applicable
The General Manager/CEO is responsible for implementing and administering the Community Reinvestment Grant Program and ensuring compliance with Board policy and state law.
