Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc. is accepting applications for four $1,500 scholarships to be awarded to rural students whose parents or guardians reside full-time in the FEC service area and have an active account with FEC.

The Cooperative’s intent is to provide a long-term, on-going scholarship program that will assist applicants who meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for a Fayette Electric Cooperative Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Reside full-time in the home of a parent or legal guardian who is a MEMBER and FULL-TIME resident in FEC’s service area and maintains an active FEC account
  • Be a senior in a high school in the FEC service area or in a school district adjacent to the FEC service area, or an accredited Home Extended Studies program who is graduating in May 2025.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen
  • Have applied for admission as a full-time student at a state university or junior college

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

  • To be considered for a Fayette Electric Cooperative Academic Scholarship, you must submit a completed application online by 5 p.m., April 1, 2025.
  • Current official transcript for all academic work STAMPED BY YOUR HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR, that includes rank and number of students in class, numeric college GPA as of the 7th semester and a copy of SAT or ACT scores (if applicable).
  • Course schedule for both the fall and spring semesters. Please denote any accelerated, honors, advanced placement courses or college-level courses.
  • Three (3) ORIGINAL signed letters of recommendation (i.e. teachers, employer, civic leaders, clergy - not related to you).
  • Fields marked with an * are required.
  • Submissions will not be processed unless all required fields are completed.
     
  • PLEASE NOTE: Applications, once started, cannot be saved and completed later. We suggest you review the application, gather the necessary documents, and then begin.
     
  • Notarized affidavit signed by parent or legal guardian who is the FEC member will be required in the event your scholarship application is chosen.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

If a student has been arrested or ticketed for any crime greater than a Class C misdemeanor, he/she is NOT eligible for a scholarship under this program.

If funds are not distributed during the first semester of your freshman year of college, due to ineligibility or any other reason, the funds will be forfeited.

The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to request verification of all information provided by the applicant if deemed necessary.

Children, siblings and grandchildren of employees and directors of Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc. are not eligible.

Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc. wants to make sure our scholarship programs keep pace with the pathways today’s students are exploring. In 2022, FEC was excited to announce new scholarship opportunities for high school seniors who will attend an accredited trade or technical institution or a certification program or associate in applied science program at a college or university. Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for a Fayette Electric Cooperative Trade & Technical School Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Reside full-time in the home of a parent or legal guardian who is a MEMBER and FULL-TIME resident in FEC’s service area and maintains an active FEC account
  • Be a senior in a high school in the FEC service area or in a school district adjacent to the FEC service area, or an accredited Home Extended Studies program who is graduating in May 2025.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen
  • Applicant must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a technical or trade institution or a preapproved certification program or associate in applied science program at a community college or university. The candidate may be enrolled in any field of study at a trade or technical institution in which the curriculums offered by these institutions are specialized and lead to job-specific certification.

HOW IS THE RECIPIENT SELECTED?

Applications are judged primarily on family profile, extracurricular participation in school and community activities, work experience, personal statement of educational and career goals and aspirations, and essay.
