Fayette EC Awards Community Reinvestment Grant to Lavaca Swimming Pool, Inc.

Lavaca Swimming Pool, Inc. has been awarded a $5,000 Community Reinvestment Grant from Fayette Electric Cooperative (Fayette EC) to support programs that promote water safety, swimming education, lifeguard training, and community wellness for residents of Lavaca County and surrounding communities. 

The grant will help expand opportunities for community members of all ages to participate in structured swimming lessons, water safety education, recreational swimming, and fitness programs. Funding will also support lifeguard training and certification efforts, helping ensure a safe and well-supervised environment for swimmers and families. 

Lavaca Swimming Pool, Inc. serves as an important community resource by offering beginner swim lessons, advanced stroke development, lifeguard certification courses, water safety education, and recreational swimming opportunities. The facility is also home to the Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Lavaca County Program, the only program of its kind within a 50-mile radius, providing specialized self-rescue swimming instruction for infants and young children.

Through its programs, the organization helps reduce drowning risks, promotes physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, supports workforce development through lifeguard certification, and provides opportunities for community engagement through aquatic activities.

Fayette Electric Cooperative’s Community Reinvestment Grant Program reinvests eligible unclaimed capital credits into projects that enhance the quality of life in the cooperative’s service area. These funds do not come from member electric rates and do not impact the cooperative’s financial health.

Instead, the program utilizes eligible unclaimed capital credits that would otherwise be turned over to the state. By reinvesting those funds locally, Fayette EC can support initiatives focused on education, economic development, community enrichment, and other projects that create meaningful, long-term benefits for the communities it serves. Through this program, the cooperative demonstrates its ongoing commitment to the cooperative principle of Concern for Community by helping local organizations make lasting, positive impacts across the region.
