An unstable weather pattern that moved across Texas brought severe thunderstorms and tornadoes to Fayette Electric Cooperative’s service territory Friday morning, May 3. Fayette EC’s crews and three contractor crews responded to the power outages throughout the cooperative’s service territory, and were able to restore power to the majority of the estimated 490 members by 4 p.m.
Three contractor crews worked for six hours Friday to repair damaged power lines west of La Grange where a reported tornado damaged property in the areas near McCourt & Sons Equipment, Inc., the future home of the First Baptist Church of La Grange and the Mount Zion Baptist Church.
General Manager Gary Don Nietsche said, “Our crews and contractor crews, as well as support staff, worked together to ensure that power was restored as quickly and safely as possible to all of the members affected by the tornadoes and severe weather.”
