October was National Cooperative Month and provided an opportunity for cooperatives to celebrate the benefits of cooperatives with their members and the community. As a special thank you to their members, Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative teamed up with Fayette Electric Cooperative to host a special Shred Day on October 4.
Members of both co-ops, who brought more than three boxes to be shredded, donated funds to be given to the Turtle Wing Foundation and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
“Cooperation Among Cooperatives is one of the Seven Cooperative Principles, and partnering with Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative to sponsor the Document Shred Day was an opportunity for us to provide a valuable service that our members appreciated,” said FEC General Manager Gary Don Nietsche.
“In October we recognize National Cooperative Month. It is a time to reflect on what matters the most to us and that is our customers. It is a key opportunity to show appreciation to our customers and our community by partnering with Fayette Electric Cooperative in sponsoring a Shred Day Event. This service provides a secure method of disposing of confidential documents.” said CVTC General Manager Kelly Allison.
