Fayette Electric Cooperative Invites Local Students to Apply for All-Expenses-Paid Trip to Washington, D.C.
Fayette Electric Cooperative is proud to announce its continued participation in the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, a prestigious program that sends high school students on an unforgettable, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. This year, two students from Fayette EC’s service area will be selected to join the 2026 Youth Tour, taking place June 14–21.
Since their founding more than 80 years ago, Texas electric cooperatives have been committed to empowering the communities they serve—not only by delivering electricity but also by investing in the future of their members. One of the most impactful ways Fayette EC supports local youth is through this unique educational opportunity.
The Youth Tour experience includes visits to historic landmarks, museums, and congressional offices, where students meet with their U.S. representatives. Participants also attend Youth Day, hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and enjoy special events, such as a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a scenic cruise on the Potomac River.
Texas electric cooperatives first sent students to Washington in 1965. Since then, more than 4,700 Texas teens have participated in this life-changing journey, gaining insight into American history, government, and the cooperative business model.
